Created on November 30, 1939, the Serra dos Órgãos National Park consists of an extensive 20,000 hectares area that covers the Teresópolis, Petrópolis, Magé and Guapimirim counties. PARNASO is one of the most well-known and visited conservation units in Brazil, and the third oldest National Park in the country – PARNA Itatiaia (1937) and PARNA Iguaçu (1939) preceded it. In addition to the breathtaking scenery, PARNASO also offers its visitors various leisure options such as a natural pool, waterfalls, hiking trails, mountain shelters, campsites, picnic areas and Visitor Centers. The park has three main venues located in the Teresópolis, Guapimirim and Petrópolis counties. The main headquarter is located in Teresópolis, just 90 km from downtown Rio de Janeiro, where visitors are welcomed by a large infrastructure.
